God Knows Just What We Need

– Author Unknown
A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her daughter was very sick with a fever. She left her work and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication for her daughter.
Upon returning to her car she found that she had locked her keys in the car. She was in a hurry to get home to her sick daughter. She didn’t know what to do, so she called her home and told the baby sitter what had happened and that she did not know what to do.
The baby sitter told her that her daughter was getting worse. She said, “You might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door.” The woman looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had been thrown down on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some time or other had locked their keys in their car. Then she looked at the hanger and said, “I don’t know how to use this.” So she bowed her head and asked God to send her some help.
Within five minutes, an old rusty car pulled up, with a dirty, greasy, bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head. The woman thought, “This is what you sent to help me?” But, she was desperate, so she was also very thankful.
The man got out of his car and asked her if he could help. She said, “Yes, my daughter is very sick. I stopped to get her some medication and I locked my keys in my car. I must get home to her. Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?”
He said, “Sure”. He walked over to the car, and in less than one minute the car was opened.
She hugged the man and through her tears she said, “Thank You So Much! You are a very nice man.”
The man replied, “Lady, I am not a nice man. I just got out of prison yesterday. I was in prison for car theft and have only been out less than 24 hours.”
The woman hugged the man again and with sobbing tears cried out loud, “Oh, Thank you God! You even sent me a Professional!”
God may not always send us what we expect, but He will always send us what we need. It’s up to us to have the wisdom to recognize the difference and be thankful.

Righteous Idol Worshiper?

Author Unknown
I wondered why I was in the queue of the accused at all. I am intelligent, aggressive, young, totally committed to my God. ‘What am I doing here with this sheet of supposed sins in my hand?’ I wondered.
I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t fornicate, I don’t steal, I am righteous. Others should be here not me.
It was finally my turn to face the Man.
I placed my sheet before Him, He glanced at it and sighed softly. He looked at me and calmly said, “Guilty of idol worship.”
Imagine my anger, my fury, my indignation. I jumped out of the chair and said, “Of course not! Check the sheet again, check the name, It can’t be mine.”
He sighed again and mentioned one of my names that no one knows.
I would not be stopped. “It’s impossible!” I yelled. “I worship only God, the Most High, Maker of heaven and earth, the King of kings and Lord of lords. I bow down to none, I have no talisman, no amulet, no pot underneath my bed.”
“You are guilty of idol worship.” He repeated calmly.
He looked at me, I looked at Him. It seemed like forever. The room was silent. I could hear the clock ticking.
Then slowly I understood.
I am never late for bus/train station or air flight, but I am always late to church. I blinked.
My payments for services I enjoy such as Dstv, phone bills, etc., are never late, but I haven’t given tithes in three months. I looked down.
When meeting one of our local chiefs last week I would not even pick a call in the presence of earthly royalty, but I WhatsApp in church.
I wouldn’t interrupt my performance appraisal with my boss for anything, but I missed church last week because of a series on TV.
I wouldn’t let a day end without talking to my spouse, but today I just said ‘Hi God, Bye God.’ And I didn’t even pray last night. The room began to feel hot.
I would never miss going to the bank because of the weather, but I missed the fellowship on Wednesday and Friday because it was drizzling.
I would wear my party colors to party meetings and not care what anyone thought of me, but I hate to talk to my workmates about God because of what they will think of me.
I always have the latest tech gadget you can think of but my Bible is so worn out. I can’t even find the book of Jude in my Bible anymore.
The last thing to touch before going to bed and the first thing in the morning is my phone, chatting on Whatapp or replying offline messages. And never bothering to talk with God or reading His word.
I felt so hot in the room, a nervous sweat on my forehead. I felt so ill and weak, all of my anger and self-righteousness was gone, leaving immense guilt in its wake.
I slowly got off the chair and knelt by His feet and said, “I am sorry. I am guilty as charged; guilty of idol worship, guilty of placing others, humans, technology, before You. I am guilty of idol worship.”
He smiled gently, looked at me with those compassionate eyes of His and He gave me a fresh sheet and said, “Go and deliver souls! Now I want you to inform others to alert them as I know they are not aware of what they are doing.”

Why God Gave Us Friends

– Author Unknown
GOD knew that everyone needs
companionship and cheer,
He knew that people need someone
whose thoughts are always near.
He knew they need someone kind
to lend a helping hand.
Someone to gladly take the time
to care and understand.
GOD knew that we all need someone
to share each happy day,
to be a source of courage
when troubles come our way.
Someone to be true to us,
whether near or far apart.
Someone whose love we’ll always
hold and treasure in our hearts.
That’s Why GOD Gave Us Friends.
Meditation: A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. – Proverbs 17:17

The Monkey with the Wooden Apples

Author Unknown
There once was a happy monkey wandering the jungle, eating delicious fruit when hungry, and resting when tired. One day he came upon a house, where he saw a bowl of the most beautiful apples. He took one in each hand and ran back into the forest.
He sniffed the apples and smelled nothing. He tried to eat them, but hurt his teeth. They were made of wood, but they were beautiful, and when the other monkeys saw them, he held onto them even tighter.
He admired his new possessions proudly as he wandered the jungle. They glistened red in the sun, and seemed perfect to him. He became so attached to them, that he didn’t even notice his hunger at first.
A fruit tree reminded him, but he felt the apples in his hands.
He couldn’t bear to set them down to reach for the fruit. In fact, he couldn’t relax, either, if he was to defend his apples. A proud, but less happy monkey continued to walk along the forest trails.
The apples became heavier, and the poor little monkey thought about leaving them behind. He was tired, hungry, and he couldn’t climb trees or collect fruit with his hands full. What if he just let go?
Letting go of such valuable things seemed crazy, but what else could he do? He was so tired. Seeing the next fruit tree, and smelling it’s fruit was enough. He dropped the wooden apples and reached up for his meal. He was happy again.
Letting Go Of Wooden Apples
Like that little monkey, we sometimes carry things that seem too valuable to let go. A man carries an image of himself as “productive” – carries it like a shiny wooden apple. But in reality, his busyness leaves him tired, and hungry for a better life. Still, letting go seems crazy. Even his worries are sacred apples – they prove he’s “doing everything he can.” He holds onto them compulsively.
This is a hard thing to see. We identify so strongly with our things even, feeling pain when our cars are dented. How much more will God identify us with our Faith and God’s commandments? ? Have you obeyed them? But we have always searched after vain pleasures to make us happy, Yet they don’t always feed our souls, do they? And we become tired of defending them.
How else could the story end?
The monkey might be found dead of hunger, under a beautiful tree, with fruit within reach, but still grasping his wooden apples.
I chose to end it with him letting go, because only with open hands can we receive anything. Ask God and He will give you more greater riches.

11 Notes to Remember

– Author Unknown
  1. Prayer is not a “spare wheel” that you pull out when in trouble, it is a “steering wheel” that directs the right path throughout the journey.
  1. So why is a car’s windshield so large and the rear view mirror so small? Because our past is not as important as our future. So, look ahead and move on.
  1. Friendship is like a book. It takes a few minutes to burn, but it takes years to write.
  1. All things in life are temporary. If they’re going well, enjoy them… they will not last forever. If they’re going wrong, don’t worry… they can’t last long either.
  1. Old friends are gold! New friends are diamond! If you get a diamond, don’t forget the gold! Because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold!
  1. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, “Relax, friend, it’s just a bend, not the end!”
  1. When God solves your problems, you have faith in His abilities; when God doesn’t solve your problems He has faith in your abilities.
  1. A blind person asked St. Anthony: “Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?” He replied, “Yes, losing your vision!”
  1. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.
  1. Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles… it takes away today’s peace.
  1. Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God.
Meditation: I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice… – 1 Timothy 5:21

The Final Whistle

I watched a local football match in a school playing ground. As I sat down, I asked one of the boys what the score was.
With a smile, he replied; “They are leading us 3-0”!
And I said, REALLY!!
I  told him, “you don’t look discouraged”.
“Discouraged?” the boy asked with a puzzled look
“Why should I be discouraged when the referee has not blown the final whistle?”
“I have confidence in the team and the managers; we shall definitely overcome!”
Truly, the match finally ended 5-4 in favour of the boy’s team!
He waved at me gently, with a beautiful smile as he left. I was amazed, mouth wide open;
Such confidence;
Such beautiful faith;
Such a small boy?
As I got back home that night, his question kept coming back to me:
“Why should I be discouraged when the referee has not blown the final whistle?”
Life is like a game.
Why should you be discouraged when The Almighty God is your Manager? Why should you be discouraged, whilst there’s still life?
Why should you be discouraged when your final whistle has not sounded?
The truth is that many people blow the final whistle themselves;
But as long as there is life, nothing is impossible and it is never too late for you.
Half time is not full time and His calendar for your life is not man’s calendar.
Don’t blow the final whistle yourself.
Be encouraged! Don’t ever give up.
With God, all things are still possible!
Good Morning friends.
Meditation: Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Phil 1:6 (NIV)

Believe there is a Solution

A father left 17 Camels as an Asset for his Three Sons.
When the Father passed away, his sons opened up the will.
The Will of the Father stated that the Eldest son should get Half of 17 Camels,
The Middle Son should be given 1/3rd of 17 Camels,
Youngest Son should be given 1/9th of the 17 Camels,
As it is not possible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, the sons started to fight with each other.
So, they decided to go to a wise man.
The wise man listened patiently about the Will. The wise man, after giving this thought, brought one camel of his own and added the same to the 17 they already had. That increased the total to 18 camels.
Now, he started reading the deceased father’s will.
Half of 18 = 9
So he gave 9 camels to the eldest son.

A third of 18 = 6
So he gave 6 camels to the middle son.

A ninth of 18 = 2
So he gave 2 camels to the youngest son.

Now add this up:
9 + 6 + 2 = 17
This leaves 1 camel, which the wise man took back.
Moral: The attitude of negotiation and problem solving is to find the 18th camel i.e. the common ground. Once a person is able to find the common ground, the issue is resolved. It is difficult at times.
However, to reach a solution, the first step is to believe that there is a solution. If we think that there is no solution, we won’t be able to reach any.
Times may be hard but when there is a will there will always be away.
It is time to think outside the box.
